Lost Moose Meadows campground owners enjoying the great outdoors in Montana
Hi There! We’re Matt and Nichole Simpkins, the owners of Lost Moose Meadows RV Campground in Lincoln, Montana. For years, we lived in Nevada, working steady jobs and raising our two boys. During that time, we started planning a campground—a place where RV owners could pull in and have the outdoors right there, with plenty of space and nature around. It was something we thought about for a long while, letting the idea grow as we went.

We knew from the start we didn’t want sites crammed on top of each other like so many parks—we’d seen too many where you’re elbow-to-elbow with your neighbors. Instead, we opted for wide separation, spacing them nearly 100 feet apart. It’s about giving you room to breathe, keeping that peaceful, open feel we always craved ourselves. That’s the heart of Lost Moose Meadows, and we’re proud to see it come to life.
Nevada was our home base back then. We brought up our boys there, taking them out to camp in the mountains and deserts or explore whenever we got the chance. While they were growing up, we kept talking about what a campground should be: big sites, trails close by, something built for people who want the real thing. After the boys moved out on their own, we decided it was time to make that plan happen.

Montana always held our hearts—full of wild land, rivers, and mountains. We picked Lincoln because it’s near towns but still has that out-of-the-way feel we wanted. We fell in love with its tight-knit charm—great little restaurants, a handy gas station, and trails that pull you right into the wilderness, all wrapped up with the warmest, most welcoming people you’ll meet. In 2021, we made the move north. By April 2022, we were breaking ground on Lost Moose Meadows, doing the work ourselves until it opened in July 2023.

And now, we’ve put our all into Lost Moose Meadows, just like we did raising our boys back in Nevada. It’s how we’ve always tackled things—together, from the ground up. The boys aren’t with us here, but those years in Nevada with them set us on this path. We built this campground because we believe RV camping should mean real space, human connections, and a true outdoor experience. We’re here running it every day, and we’d be glad to have you come stay.

Warmly,
Matt and Nichole Simpkins
