We’re open April 15 through October 15. Here’s what each part of the season is like at the campground.
Mid April to May
We open April 15. Spring in the mountains can bring snow one day and sunshine the next, so pack layers. Elk are often out in the meadows, the peaks are still white, and the campground is quiet. It’s one of the quietest times to stay, and our spring rates run April 15 through May 21.
June
Everything turns green, the days get long, and the snow is still hanging on up high. The Blackfoot usually runs high and fast with snowmelt early in the month.
July and August
Warm days and cool nights, and the best time for hiking, riding, and day trips. Late summer can be hot and dry, and Montana sometimes puts fire restrictions in place, so we’ll let you know if campfires are limited. On clear, moonless nights the Milky Way is at its best.
September
One of our favorite months. The crowds thin out, the aspens start to turn gold, and you may hear elk bugling in the evenings. Archery season is also underway this time of year. Our fall rates begin October 1.
October 1 to 14
Crisp mornings, quiet days, and the last two weeks of our season. Nights can get cold, so be ready for freezing temperatures. Archery season is still underway, and the larches start turning gold. Fall rates run October 1 through October 14, the last night you can book. Checkout on October 15 is our closing day.
